Our Pregnancy Multivitamin provides 400µg folate as active methylfolate (5-MTHF), 10µg vitamin D in line with NHS guidance for pregnancy (not the higher doses used in our other formulas, because more isn't automatically better in pregnancy), and choline.
Key Benefits
- Folate 400µg as active methylfolate (5-MTHF) (200% NRV) — folate contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy and to normal blood formation.
- Vitamin D3 10µg — in line with NHS guidance for pregnancy. Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and normal muscle function and to the normal function of the immune system.
- Choline (82.2mg).
- Vitamin B6 10mg (714% NRV) — contributes to normal protein and glycogen metabolism and normal psychological function.
- Iron 17mg (121% NRV) as ferrous bisglycinate — iron contributes to normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
- Iodine 150µg — contributes to normal thyroid function.
Why Dr Marks?
We set vitamin D at the 10µg NHS pregnancy amount, used methylfolate (5-MTHF), P5P vitamin B6 and iron as ferrous bisglycinate, and added choline — formulated within UK EVM and European guidance levels when used as directed.
Directions
Take one capsule daily, ideally with food and a glass of water. Take one Dr Marks multivitamin only, and do not exceed the stated dose. Suitable for vegetarians.
Cautions & interactions
- As with any supplement in pregnancy, please discuss with your midwife or GP before starting, particularly if you are taking any other supplements or medication (including thyroid medication or blood thinners).
- Contains folate as methylfolate rather than folic acid. The NHS recommends a 400µg folic acid supplement before conception and for the first 12 weeks. Ask your GP or midwife if you're unsure what's right for you.
- Contains beta-carotene. Not suitable for smokers or people exposed to asbestos.
- Contains vitamin K. If you take anticoagulant medicine such as warfarin, speak to your GP or pharmacist before taking this product.
- If you take levothyroxine, take this product at least 4 hours apart.
- Leave at least 2 to 3 hours between this product and tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics, bisphosphonates, or levodopa.
- Not suitable for people with haemochromatosis unless advised by their doctor.
Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

Consistent Daily Use: What Happens in the Body
Many supplement brands print fixed charts promising you will “feel more energy in Week 2” or “see thicker hair in Month 2”. As practising UK GPs, we won’t do that. What happens when you take a supplement depends on whether you are topping up an everyday diet (where nutrients work quietly in the background and you may not “feel” a sudden change) or correcting a low level found on a GP blood test.
Daily routine & digestive comfort
Take 1 capsule a day with a main meal and water. Taking your capsule with food is gentler on the stomach and helps fat-soluble vitamins absorb normally.
Note: Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) naturally turns urine bright yellow — this is harmless and simply shows water-soluble B vitamins passing through.
Steady daily nutritional intake
Consistent daily intake helps top up your diet every day rather than in sporadic bursts. Water-soluble nutrients (such as B vitamins and vitamin C) are used daily and aren’t stored in large amounts, while fat-soluble nutrients (such as vitamin D) build up gradually with steady daily intake.
Long-term maintenance & GP blood re-checks
Red blood cells turn over roughly every 90 to 120 days. When a GP treats a confirmed low level (such as vitamin B12 or vitamin D), NICE and NHS guidance typically schedules a clinical review or follow-up check around 3 months. For everyday dietary top-ups, steady ongoing habits matter most.
