Our Pregnancy Multivitamin is built specifically around UK antenatal guidance — not a generic multivitamin with "pregnancy-safe" stuck on the label. Folate is dosed at the NHS-recommended 400µg as active methylfolate (5-MTHF), vitamin D at the NHS-recommended 10µg (not the higher doses used in our other formulas, because more isn't automatically better in pregnancy), and we've added choline, which UK guidance increasingly recognises as important for maternal and fetal tissue development but which most prenatal multivitamins still leave out entirely.

Key Benefits

  • Folate 400µg as active 5-MTHF (200% NRV) — the NHS-recommended pregnancy dose, in the active form so it doesn't rely on the MTHFR conversion step. Contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy and normal blood formation.
  • Vitamin D3 10µg — matches the NHS's specific pregnancy recommendation. Contributes to normal bones, normal immune function and normal muscle function.
  • Choline (82.2mg) — supports normal liver function and maternal choline status, an area increasingly highlighted in UK antenatal nutrition guidance and commonly missing from standard prenatal multivitamins.
  • Vitamin B6 10mg (714% NRV) — contributes to normal protein and glycogen metabolism and normal psychological function; a higher B6 dose is a formulation many women find helpful in early pregnancy.
  • Iron 17mg (121% NRV) as gentle ferrous bisglycinate — contributes to normal red blood cell formation and reduction of tiredness and fatigue, chosen to be gentler on the stomach than standard ferrous sulphate.
  • Iodine 150µg — contributes to normal thyroid function, important for fetal neurological development.

Why Dr Marks?

Many pregnancy multivitamins are simply a standard multivitamin with a "pregnancy" label added, or they load in doses well above UK guidance on the theory that more must be safer. We did the opposite: we matched each dose to current NHS/UK antenatal guidance specifically, used active forms (methylfolate rather than folic acid, P5P rather than synthetic B6, chelated iron rather than harsh ferrous sulphate) to maximise absorption and minimise the nausea and constipation that puts a lot of women off taking their prenatal at all, and added choline — a nutrient with increasing recognition in maternal nutrition guidance that most competitors still skip because it's an expensive ingredient to include.
