Selenium

Selenium

Selenium is important for immune health, reproduction and the protection of cells and tissues from damage.

Good food sources include brazil nuts, fish, meat and eggs.

Daily recommended intake is 75 mcg / day for men and 60 mcg / day for women.

Deficiency may be increasing. The HSIS report in 2019 showed that selenium intake has been declining over the previous 20 years.

Deficiency can lead to symptoms like muscle pains and tenderness.
